PRETORIA - The North Gauteng High Court on Thursday found Boeremag accused Mike du Toit guilty of high reason.

Judge Eben Jordaan started handing down his judgment in the nine-year-long trial earlier this week.

The 20 men face numerous charges including high treason, terrorism and murder.

Du Toit is the author of the so-called 'Document 12', which set out the plan to overthrow the ANC-led government.

Jordaan said du Toit was part of the Boeremag's inner circle, which made tactical decisions during the attempted coup.

According to the court, du Toit would have assumed a leading role in the new whites-only state.

Jordaan will continue with his judgment, which is expected to take several weeks to complete.
