JOHANNESBURG - A two-year-old boy has died after drowning in a swimming pool in Bryanston, ER24 paramedics said on Tuesday.

A three-year-old is also fighting for his life in hospital.

It is still not clear how long the two children were in the pool, but several attempts to resuscitate the youngest child were unsuccessful.

ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said the two-year-old was rushed to the Netcare Olivedale Hospital where he was declared dead.

"They [hospital staff] are desperately trying to stabilise the second child."
