Improving lives takes more than 67 minutes

Trevor Manual says taking responsibility to improve lives is not a 67 minute exercise.

Planning Minister Trevor Manuel.

CAPE TOWN - Planning Minister Trevor Manuel said taking responsibility to improve lives is not a 67 minute exercise.

Manuel did his bit yesterday by building wheelchair ramps and assisting with the painting of schools and libraries in Mitchells Plain.

He said being of service is a privilege that should be honoured on a daily basis.

"I would hope the spirit if service is not dependent on a convening emblem like Nelson Mandela's birthday, it is not dependent on somebody like myself."
