CAPE TOWN - Proteas all rounder Jacques Kallis said he had nothing to prove against England.

The first Test gets underway at the Oval Thursday.

Kallis has been very successful in England with the bat in recent times.

He said the current tour is a new slate.

"I'll prepare the way as I always prepare. I'll just go there and try and perform."

Kallis said the team can't wait to get on the field.

"I think this wicket will be a little bit quicker, but we've prepared ourselves. The guys are just ready for the Test to get underway."

Meanwhile, Kallis' former teammate, Mark Boucher, is expected to undergo another surgery after he was hit in the eye by a bail after an Imran Tahir delivery struck the stumps.

Boucher has since announced his retirement from cricket following the injury.
