‘Seven Habits’ author dies
Stephen Covey was the author of ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’.
JOHANNESBURG - Motivational speaker Stephen Covey died at the age of 80 on Monday.
He catapulted to fame in 1989 with the publication of his book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
The former university professor passed away in an Idaho hospital in the United States.
His family said his death was related to injuries he sustained in a bicycle accident three months ago.
Covey was "one of the world's foremost leadership authorities, organisational experts and thought leaders," according to a biography posted on the website of his 2011 book, The 3rd Alternative.
The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People was named one of the most influential management books by several organisations, including _Time _and Forbes magazines, while the audio book is the best-selling non-fiction audio in history.
He was once named one of _Time _magazine's 25 most influential Americans.
