Govt. and family honour Madiba
A three-day colloquium in honour of Nelson Mandela kicksoff in the Eastern Cape on Monday.
UMTATA - Madiba magic is set to spread in Qunu in the Eastern Cape over the next few days.
A number of high profile delegates at the weekend arrived in Umtata for a three-day conference in honour of former statesman Nelson Mandela.
The world icon turns 94 years old on Wednesday.
National government representatives and relatives of Madiba will take part in seminars about Mandela's legacy and fight against inequality at the Nelson Mandela Museum.
The colloquium will kickoff on Monday, with a tour of Mandela's home village in Qunu.
The tour will be followed by lectures about his life.
Minister of Human Settlements Tokyo Sexwale and former director general in the Presidency Frank Chikane are expected to address delegates.
Meanwhile, locals are preparing for their own celebrations in honour of the nations father, amid a municipal strike in Umtata.
