JOHANNESBURG - Tokyo Sexwale has reportedly made a cautious declaration that wants to challenge President Jacob Zuma's leadership at the ANC Elective Conference later this year.

Speaking to the Sunday Independent, he said he would be honoured to serve South Africa.

But Sexwale told the publication that it would be up to ANC branches to decide.

He also stopped short of declaring his candidacy.

The ANC will only start nominating candidates for the party's leadership in October.

Delegates will then elect a president in Mangaung over December.
