Mpumalanga truck driver arrested
The truck driver involved in a deadly train crash has been arrested.
JOHANNESBURG - The truck driver involved in a deadly train accident in Hectorspruit has been arrested, Mpumalanga police confirmed on Saturday.
At least 25 people were killed and 25 others injured when a truck carrying farm workers collided with a goods train at a level-crossing on Friday morning.
Mpumalanga Community Safety spokesperson Joseph Mabuza said, "We have arrested the 32-year-old man. He will be appearing before the Malelane Periodical Court on Monday."
The police's Leonard Hlathi said the truck driver will face 25 counts of murder.
