Mamabolo's B sample tests positive
The 2012 Comrades Marathon winner Ludwick Mamabolo has failed his second drug test.
JOHANNESBURG - The 2012 Comrades Marathon winner Ludwick Mamabolo has failed his second drug test.
The SA Institute for Drug Free Sport (Saids) on Friday announced Mamabolo's B Sample confirmed the the result from his A sample.
Both tested positive for the banned stimulant methylhexaneamine.
The marathon runner submitted his B sample after testing positive for the banned substance.
Mamabolo will now have to face a hearing.
Comrades General Manager Gary Boschoff said, "We have taken note of the outcome of the B sample and we'll now await the outcome of the tribunal."
Meanwhile, Mamabolo has denied any wrongdoing. He has threatened to fight the allegations.
His family said the allegations against Mamabolo stem from racism.
Mamabolo is the first South African to win the race in seven years.
