CAPE TOWN - It remains unclear what fate awaits Congress of the People (COPE) Member of Parliament (MP) Dirk Feldman, after his apparent misbehaviour on an SAA flight to India on Saturday.

Feldman reportedly tried to open an emergency exit door, while seemingly drunk on the flight.

He was detained briefly, by Indian officials.

COPE said it was waiting for National Council of Provinces (NCOP) MP Dirk Feldman to arrive back in South Africa so it could discuss the serious allegations levelled against him.

Senior party member Dennis Bloem said if Feldman's actions were as despicable as was reported, there will be serious consequences.

"We are definitely going to take action, and very strong action."

Bloem said Feldman will be back in the country by Tuesday.
