JOHANNESBURG - The Reiger Park Police Station has refused to open a missing persons case for two brothers who went missing on Monday afternoon.

The boys' family went to the police station on Monday night at about 10pm to report them missing, but were told to go home as the boys would return.

The family do not have a case number and have since started searching for the boys.

The two brothers aged four and eight-years-old were last seen by their grandmother outside the family home.

Police said such behaviour from the local police station was unacceptable, and the family should have been helped immediately.

The police's Mashudu Phatela said, "The investigation should have started right after the boys were reported missing."
