Man dies in microlight crash

A pilot died when the microlight aircraft he was travelling in crashed near Groblersdal in Limpopo.

JOHANNESBURG - A 60-year-old pilot died on Monday when the microlight aircraft he was travelling in crashed near Groblersdal in Limpopo.

His co-pilot was left critically injured and treated at the scene before being transported to hospital.

ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said paramedics found one of the pilots trapped inside the microlight and were unable to resuscitate him.

Visser said the injured man broke both his legs and suffered neck, back and facial injuries.

He remains in a serious condition.
