Igesund picks his assistant coach
Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund says his assistant Thomas Madigage will compliment him.
JOHANNESBURG - Former national footballer Thomas Madigage has been appointed as Bafana Bafana assistant coach, Gordon Igesund announced on Tuesday.
Madigage has been assistant coach at Supersport United, where he won trophies under coaches Pitso Mosimane and Gavin Hunt.
The new assistant takes over from Jairo Leal.
Former South African Football Association (SAFA) technical director Serame Letsoaka will only assist when the team is in camp.
According to SAFA, Madigage was Igesund's first choice for the position as he wanted someone who had achieved success in that role.
Igesund said he believes Madigage will complement his own style and strengths.
Meanwhile, SAFA CEO Robin Petersen thanked Supersport United for releasing Madigage at short notice.
