Emergency eye surgery for Boucher
Wicketkeeper Mark Boucher will undergo exploratory surgery to his left eye.
JOHANNESBURG - Proteas wicketkeeper Mark Boucher on Monday underwent emergency exploratory surgery to his eye.
This after he suffered a laceration to the white area of his left eye when the ball ricocheted off the stumps.
The ball hit the 35-year-old in the eye during the Proteas match against Somerset in Taunton.
South African team doctor Mohammed Mosajee said Boucher had a lot of bleeding around his eye area.
"We are hopeful and positive."
AB de Villiers was placed behind the stumps for duration of the match.
