Group tackles education system
Equal Education has called on the youth to take responsibility for their future.
JOHANNESBURG - Civil organisation Equal Education on Monday said its national congress will tackle the challenges facing South Africa's school system.
It said delegates will also discuss their vision of quality education and equality for all citizens.
The week-long conference started in Tembisa on Gauteng's East Rand on Sunday.
Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) General Secretary Zwelinzima Vavi said educational opportunities are still one of the country's greatest obstacles.
Equal Education co-founder Yoliswa Dwane said young people need to take responsibility for their future.
"We need to have a serious conversation as to how we are going to make sure that within a few years, the education system of this country is radically changed."
