JOHANNESBURG - The MTN Lions surprised many at Coca Cola Park with a 37-32 win over the Melbourne Rebels.

Tries from Waylon Murray, Jaco Kriel and two from Derrick Minnie sealed a bonus point win for the hosts.

The victory is just their third of the season.

For the Rebels, their search for their first victory on South African soil continues.

Lions skipper Josh Strauss said it was great to give the crowd a win in their final home game of the season.

"It's been tough and we have made it very hard for ourselves during the season. It's really nice to pull off a win at home."

Strauss thanked all the fans for coming out.

Interim Coach Johan Ackermann said individual tackling was the main reason the team let a 24-point lead slip.

"It comes down to concentration. And we will definitely be looking at it in our post match review."

Looking ahead to the Currie Cup, Strauss said the team could still be very dangerous once all players were back from injury.
