CAPE TOWN - A Karoo teenager, who is accused of kidnapping a three-week-old baby boy, has been taken to a place of safety.

The suspect appeared in the Oudtshoorn Magistrates Court on Thursday.

She allegedly disappeared with the child a week ago.

The boy's mother asked her to watch the infant while she used a nearby ATM machine.

Police found the unharmed baby and suspect in Ladismith four days ago.

The National Prosecuting Authority's Eric Ntabazalila says "the matter was postponed to 27 July."
