JOHANNESBURG - Oscar Pistorius on Wednesday felt a sense of relief and achievement when he heard the news that he will be going to the London Olympic Games.

South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) announced it has included the man dubbed the Blade Runner in the 400m relay team.

The double amputee failed to secure the qualifying time in Benin on Friday, prompting many to think he had missed his chance to compete in both able and disabled events.

His agent Peet van Zyl said Pistorius must now make his country proud.

"It's a huge privilege and honour for him to compete in the London Olympics.

"He just needs to go and do it."

On Wednesday, Pistorius posted a special message on social networking site Twitter. He wrote: "Today is really one of the happiest days of my life."
