Doctor's tariffs investigated
Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has declared war on high health care costs.
CAPE TOWN - An organisation representing more than 90 percent of medical aid schemes on Wednesday blamed doctors for high tariffs.
Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi recently declared war on high health care costs.
Meanwhile, PricewaterhouseCoopers surveyed the majority of medical aid schemes which welcomed an investigation into tariffs.
Doctor Humphrey Zokufa from the board of the healthcare funders said most of the schemes were running at a loss and doctors were to blame.
"They are putting an amount that is high enough and good enough for them, and then bill the medical aid.
"The medical aid companies are then reduced to find ways and means to negate that risk."
