CAPE TOWN - Southern Cape Police on Tuesday said they are still searching for a teenager who may have kidnapped a three-week-old baby in Oudtshoorn.

The infant has been missing since last week. It is believed the baby's mother handed her child to the suspect while she went to draw money at a local ATM.

Southern Cape police hope an identikit will help them track down a 17-year-old suspect who is believed to have kidnapped the baby.

The baby's mother, who had allegedly been drinking on the day, had gone into town to get more money.

At the ATM she handed the baby over to a teenager while she drew money.

She told the suspect to meet her at a nearby shop, but the teenager never arrived.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact detectives or the Oudtshoorn police station.
