Arts Festival figures increase
The tough economic times are having a positive impact on the Grahamstown National Arts Festival.
CAPE TOWN - The tough economic times are having a positive impact on the Grahamstown National Arts Festival.
Organisers said the event has seen a spike in attendance figures in recent years.
CEO Tony Lancaster believes it is partly because South Africans do not have the money to travel overseas.
"We're seeing a very interesting trend with our audience figures. It's an indication that South Africans are travelling more and more locally. It's very heartening to see South Africans come out in their numbers to support big events such as the National Arts Festival."
The festival runs until the end of this week.
