JOHANNESBURG - A KwaZulu-Natal ANC councillor was killed in a drive-by shooting on Saturday evening, while his friend was critically injured.

Police spokesperson Vincent Mdunge said Wandile Mkhize and the man he was with were attacked by unknown men travelling in a white Totoya Corolla.

The pair was walking along Forest Road in Manaba, Margate, at the time of the attack.

Mdunge said the motive behind the shooting was not yet known.

He said no arrests had yet been made by 11 a.m. on Sunday, but that police were in pursuit of a suspect.

Police are investigating a case of murder with aggravating circumstances, and another of attempted murder.
