CSA to discuss day-night test matches
Day-night test matches may be part of cricket in South Africa in the near future.
JOHANNESBURG - Day-night test matches may be part of cricket in South Africa in the near future.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has cleared the way for its introduction at its board meeting in Malaysia.
The ICC board has had no objection to the introduction of day-night tests dependent on the agreement of both participating teams.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) acting chief executive Jacques Faul says he is excited by the prospect.
"I think that may be the way forward. It may not take place at every venue or against every team but it'll be a good thing for test cricket to evolve."
Faul says he needs to consult with teams and plans to talk to his board about the idea.
"We'll have to go to the players and coaches and discuss it. Everyone would have to agree to it. However, I can foresee it taking place in the near future permitted the board agree to it."
