R100k for robber's arrest - Spar
In a full page newspaper ad, Spar published the photos of several robbers at one of its stores.
JOHANNESBURG - The Spar Group Ltd said on Wednesday it hoped a reward of R100,000 will lead to the arrests of a gang responsible for a spate of robberies at the groups retail chain stores.
In a full page newspaper advertisement, the group published the photos of several men robbing one of its stores.
The advertisement went on to say that crime has devastating consequences on communities around the country.
"We just drew a line in the sand that said enough is enough," said the group's Mark Hedderwick.
"Let's make a big statement to the public showing that we take these attacks on our retailers very seriously."
A Spar manager was recently killed during a robbery in Jukskei Park.
CCTV footage showed the gang that killed the manager of a Randburg Spar earlier in June, also attacked the security guards.
They brazenly walked past security cameras without covering their faces.
In the reported incidents, around eight armed men entered the store just before closing time and robbed customers, till points and the safe.
