Zille opens new call centre
Premier Helen Zille says the call centre industry in the Western Cape has seen a 20 percent growth.
CAPE TOWN - Premier Helen Zille on Monday said the call centre industry in the Western Cape has seen a 20 percent growth despite tough economic times.
Zille attributed this to strong partnerships between government and the private sector.
She opened a new call centre in Woodstock on Monday.
It is a joint venture between the United Kingdom's mobile network "Everything Everywhere" and South Africa's Merchants.
The project is expected to create 190 to 200 job opportunities.
Zille said, "There are many young people, very keen for jobs, who have the right training. There's been international investment and local partners. It all came together to make a recipe for sustained high growth."
Everything Everywhere's Jackie O'Leary said South Africa has great people.
"Education has improved and now we are finding great young people and I have to say the South African accent is well and truly loved in the UK."
