JOHANNESBURG - The Communication Workers Union (CWU) on Friday slammed Public Protector Thuli Madonsela, claiming she stalled to investigate allegations of corruption at the South African Post Office.

The union laid a complaint in 2011, alleging there was tender irregularity in the deal to secure the post office's head quarters in Centurion, Pretoria.

Madonsela's office refuted the claims and said its investigation was delayed because the post office was conducting an internal investigation.

Madonsela's spokesperson Momelezi Kula said the Public Protector asked for a meeting with the union to discuss the investigation.

Meanwhile, CWU spokesperson Matankana Mothapo said union members feel ignored by Madonsela's office.

He said members want to know when the investigation will be concluded and why has taken so long.
