NEWLANDS - Victorious Junior Springboks Captain Wiaan Liebenberg on Friday said extra hard work spent preparing was what ultimately earned them the 2012 IRB Junior World Championship title.

The South African Under20 rugby team clinched the championship on Friday in a nail-biting final against New Zealand.

The Baby Boks beat the Baby Blacks 22-16 in front of a sellout Newlands crowd.

Liebenberg said all the hard work was worth it.

"We wanted to take on [New Zealand] at the end of the day, it is still a team effort and the hard work paid off."

Liebenberg said every player gave his everything to ensure victory was in their grasp.

"Everybody just told each other that they are going to put in the effort and make it an eight-man scrum."
