Africa is 'next growth frontier'

Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies urged Swiss industrialists not to forget SA.

Minister of Trade and Industry Rob Davies.

ZURICH - Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies has urged Swiss industrialists not to forget the "S" in "BRICS".

He addressed hundreds of delegates in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday.

Minister Rob Davies believes Africa is the next growth frontier, but stressed that in order to realise this, the continent needed major industrial development.

South Africa is collaborating with a number of successful Swiss firms, and Davies has urged more to come on board.

He said they're very excited about the Lonzer project.

The Swiss company will work with Government to locally manufacture the active ingredients of Antiretroviral drugs and in the process provide thousands of jobs.

Davies reckons this will boost industrialisation in the country.
