ANC prepared for policy conference
The ANC policy conference comes ahead of the party’s national conference in Mangaung at the end of the year.
JOHANNEBSURG - African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Gwede Mantashe said on Thursday the ruling party was ready for its policy conference set to take place next week.
The conference comes ahead of the ANC's national conference in Mangaung at the end of the year.
Mantashe said this conference was important because they will be reviewing previous policies and implementation.
"The staff committees have now developed policies and those draft policies go to policy conference for processing, where delegates from branches debate," Mantashe explained.
"Ultimately those policies will end up in the national conference."
The ANC in the North West Province said the ANC's policy conference should remain unaffected by its problems around unity.
On Sunday people with sjamboks disrupted the North West province's policy meeting, claiming the provincial leadership had been disbanded.
The ANC's national leadership in the province reaffirmed those people elected to leadership positions in 2011 were still officially in place.
