Armed robbery at Randridge Mall

Four people have been injured during an armed robbery at Randridge Mall in northwest Johannesburg.

JOHANNESBURG - Police have arrested four suspects in connection with a robbery at the NWJ jewellery store at the Randridge Mall in Randpark Ridge, Johannesburg.

The police's Lungelo Dlamini confirmed that police and the robbers were involved in a shootout in which four people were injured.

The injured included a policeman, two adults and a three-year-old boy.

Police said eight armed men entered the mall shortly after 10am on Saturday.

They held up the NWJ jewellery store and fired several shots on their way out.

Police located the getaway Isuzu bakkie and a high speed car chase ensued.

During the chase, the driver of the bakkie lost control of the vehicle and crashed it.

Four suspects were arrested while the others managed to get away.

Several firearms and some jewellery was recovered.
