Zuma addresses Metrorail problems
President Jacob Zuma recalled his experience on a Metrorail train in Gauteng.
JOHANNESBURG - President Jacob Zuma on Thursday highlighted major deficiencies with Gauteng's Metrorail service.
Earlier, he boarded the train from Pretoria to Rhodesfield in Kempton Park.
Zuma was assessing the Gauteng public transport system.
He also spoke to a number of frustrated commuters who use the train on a daily basis.
Zuma said he experienced the problems first hand.
"We were in the Metrorail trains and listened to the commuters."
He said trains were cramped, unreliable and safety was poor.
The president also tested the Gautrain.
