World Wildlife Fund belives people should out if the seafood they buy is from sustainable fishing resources

CAPE TOWN - A leading conservation group believes more South Africans should consider finding out if the seafood they are purchasing is from sustainable fishing resources.

World Wildlife Fund (WWF) says this is possible by simpy sending in an SMS.

Last year alone it received 33 thousand requests.

But the organisation's Samantha Petersen says not enough people are checking in the status of their fish products.

"If you are a seafood consumer faced with choice - whether that be in a restaurant or a retailer or a fish market - and you're unsure of which is a suatinable choice, you can SMS the name of the fish to the service and it will immediately send you a response."

You can SMS 079-499-8795 to participate.
