No breakthrough after ATM bombings
The low number of arrests for ATM bombings is a concern, according to MEC Dan Plato.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Community Safety MEC Dan Plato on Wednesday said he was concerned that police have not made any further arrests in connection with the recent spate of ATM bombings in the province.
There have been 17 ATM bombings since the start of this year.
So far the Hawks have made only two arrests.
The majority of the bombings occurred in Goodwood.
Plato said local police needed the help of their Gauteng counterparts.
"I believe there could be a link between what happened in Gauteng and what is happening in the Western Cape. Obviously people know what they are doing."
