Zuma announces Cabinet reshuffle, Cele fired
President Jacob Zuma announced a cabinet reshuffle and fired top cop Bheki Cele.
PRETORIA - President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday announced a cabinet reshuffle at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
The changes were made as a result of resignations and a recent death.
The new Public Service and Administration Minister is Lindiwe Sisulu.
The new Defence Minister is Nosiviwe Mapisa Nqukula.
S'bu Ndebele has been moved from Transport to Correctional Services.
Zuma also announced that suspended National Police Commissioner Bheki Cele has been fired for his role in the controversial police headquarters deal.
Late in 2011, Public Protector Thuli Madonsela found that officials acted improperly in the procurement process involving the Pretoria and Durban deals.
The president then appointed Judge Jake Moloi to head up an inquiry looking into the matter.
Mangwashi Phiyega has been named as the new national police commissioner.
