JOHANNESBURG - Labour unions and ANC provincial structures have been finalising their policy positions ahead of the ruling party's policy conference in Midrand later in June.

The conference is an important step on the road to the national elective conference in Mangaung.

National Education Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) was expected to wrap up its policy conference on Monday.

Delegates spent the last few days debating ANC discussion documents.

While addressing the conference on Sunday, President Jacob Zuma touted the idea of a second transition.

He said the transition period should be used to fast-track economic and social transformation.

The Gauteng ANC also held its provincial general council meeting at the weekend.

Provincial chairperson Paul Mashatile told delegates to evaluate the Gauteng's current leadership.
