Mmemezi hits out at media
Gauteng MEC Humphrey Mmemezi says the media blew the painting purchase out of proportion
TEMBISA - Gauteng Housing MEC Humphrey Mmemezi on Monday said a controversial transaction on his official credit card was blown out of proportion by the media.
Staff members from the MEC's office recently paid R10,000 to buy a painting for his office from a McDonald's branch in Pretoria.
On Monday, Mmemezi lashed out at the media saying it should report on real corruption and not petty issues.
He claims the picture was not a purchase for his personal pleasure, but for the office.
The MEC made the comments while inspecting a new RDP development at a hostel in Tembisa on Gauteng's East Rand.
He said he is being unfairly targeted by people he is investigating for corruption.
Once completed, the hostel is expected to house more than 200 people.
