Conjoined Eastern Cape twins die
Conjoined twins, who were last week admitted to the Red Cross Children's Hospital for treatment, have died.
CAPE TOWN - A pair of conjoined Eastern Cape twins have died at the Red Cross Children's Hospital in Cape Town.
Last week, they were admitted to hospital for treatment.
The sisters, who born a week ago, shared a heart and a liver.
Doctors were assessing the twins in order to decide whether to perform an operation on them.
Western Cape Health spokesperson Faiza Steyn said, "Unfortunately, the one twin had some difficulty breathing and they both died because they were sharing a heart."
