CAPE TOWN - Ceres residents in the Western Cape say they expect snowfall on the Matroosberg Mountain to continue for the next few weeks.

A part of the mountain has been covered in a white blanket since the start of the weekend.

The Matroosberg Nature Reserve's Didi de Kock says, "It can last a few weeks. What normally happens is that we get another snow fall on top of the first one which can last for up to 12 weeks.

The cold front is expected to continue for the next few days throughout the country.

Authorities have urged people not to leave any fires unattended.
