Manyi challenges claims
Jimmy Manyi said the letter claiming his contract will not be renewed should be made public.
CAPE TOWN - Government spokesperson Jimmy Manyi told Eyewitness News on Friday that he will challenge whoever has a letter claiming his contract would not be renewed, to make it public.
Manyi denied reports that he received a letter from Performance Monitoring Minister Collins Chabane last week saying his contract would not be renewed when it expires in August.
The Mail & Guardian has quoted an unnamed government official saying Manyi has effectively been fired for repeatedly making embarrassing remarks, particularly on Gauteng's e-tolling system.
Despite the public rejecting the tolls, Manyi told the media in February that they should accept it, because it was not "just a bad dream".
