CAPE TOWN - Some Cape Town businesses have mixed feelings about the city's proposal to turn Cape Town Stadium into an entertainment attraction.

The municipality revealed its plans to construct a nightclub, sports bars, restaurants and coffee shops to make it commercially sustainable.

Speaking to Eyewitness News , business owners had mixed feelings about the proposal.

"I think it's great because it will bring more people to the area," one man said.

"I don't think it's going to affect our business because they will be doing something different."

Another business owner said, "I think that it will have a negative effect in terms of parking and the nightclubs are going to attract the wrong crowd."

The R4.5 billion stadium was built ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

City officials also tried to move Stormers games to that venue, but the Western Cape Rugby Union refused.
