JOHANNESBURG - Members that claim Pule Mabe was reinstated as treasurer are leaking selective information, the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) said on Tuesday.

According to the League, the ANC recommended that Mabe be charged for his actions while he was treasurer.

Over the weekend, it emerged that Mabe was trying to run for the position of Youth League leader after Julius Malema was expelled.

ANCYL deputy president Ronald Lamola is adamant Mabe has not returned to his post.

"When the treasurer general was removed, we gave an official statement that if and when he is reinstated, we will do the same."

Lamola said the information that was leaked was selective.

"They only leak what favours their propaganda machinery. One of the things they should have leaked is that the fact that the ANC recommended that we must charge him."

But Lamola would not elaborate on the charges or what led to Mabe's departure.
