A rescue mission, to save 10 people on board a sinking fishing vessel, has been completed.
CAPE TOWN - A three-hour rescue mission, to save 10 people on board a sinking fishing vessel off the Cape Agulhas Coast in the Western Cape, has been completed.
No one was injured during the incident.
Water entered the eight-metre ship, which was situated 20 kilometres out to sea, on Saturday.
It remains unclear what caused water to enter the vessel.
The South African Maritime Safety Authority is expected to conduct an investigation.
The spokesperson for the National Sea Rescue Institute, Craig Lambinon, said all 10 fishermen were taken to the Struisbaai harbour.
Lambinon said emergency management services would remain on scene, as a precautionary measure.
