Mosimane hopes for Josephs' comeback
Moeneeb Josephs turned down a call-up for Bafana duty.
JOHANNESBURG - Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane said on Monday he remained hopeful that Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs will return to the national team camp as early as this week.
Mosimane stated that the door was still open for Josephs to rejoin the national team even though the keeper caused a stir last week when he suddenly retired from international football.
Josephs turned down a call-up for Bafana duty, fuelling speculation that he was tired of playing second fiddle to Itumeleng Khune.
Mosimane said Like many goalkeepers, Josephs should be patient.
"You know goalkeeping is a special position. You know how long you wait? How long Khune waited?" said Mosimane.
Mosimane said Josephs' sudden decision did not surprise him at all.
"In Bafana these things have happened before. You know how many players have retired and came back. Here we welcome them with open arms.
"Here it's not a thing about 'you said you retired, now you want to come back?' Here it's about the national team.
"We must understand that players are emotional."
