CAPE TOWN - The mother of a murdered Bonnievale boy on Monday said she was dreading having to identify her son's body.

Fransiena Prins' six-year-old son, Franklin, went missing on Friday.

His naked body was found on the banks of Breede River in the Western Cape, just hours after he disappeared.

Police spokesperson November Filander said a belt was found around the boy's neck.

Prins said the support from residents has helped her somewhat.

She will have to identify the body at the morgue on Tuesday.

According to officials, a 16-year-old boy has admitted to the crime and he appeared in the Bonnievale Magistrate's Court on Monday.

He was then taken to a place of safety, pending the outcome of further investigations.
