Boy (2) dies in shack fire
A two-year-old boy was killed in a shack fire in Happy Valley near Blackheath.
CAPE TOWN - A two-year-old boy was killed in a shack fire in Happy Valley near Blackheath earlier on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Avan Dreyer.
At the same time, a five-year-old boy was admitted to the Red Cross Children's Hospital after he sustained 30 percent burn wounds.
Disaster Management's Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said police have opened an inquest docket.
"We have made arrangements for the family to receive trauma counselling. At this stage, we don't know what caused the fire."
At least 30 people were displaced in shack fires across the province over the weekend.
