Eyewitness News report

CAPE TOWN - Some Mfuleni residents are hard at work erecting shacks before nightfall.

Last week, around 160 families were notified that they had to move to make way for a new development.

They had until Monday to vacate the area.

The informal inhabitants of Phola Park received notices on Thursday.

According to residents, a shopping centre will be built where their shacks once stood.

On Monday evening, many residents were forced to sleep out in the open as they did not have enough time to erect new structures.
