CAPE TOWN - Western Cape traffic officers on Monday arrested a speedster on the N1.

The motorist was caught on camera driving at 200km/h near the Klapmuts turn-off, in a 120km/h zone.

Traffic chief Kenny Africa said the motorist will face charges of reckless driving.

"The 30-year-old male handed himself over to the police in Franschhoek. They are currently busy with the investigation."

Meanwhile, eight people were killed on the province's roads over the weekend.

Officials say more than 2,000 motorists were pulled over during road blocks over the weekend.
