Wrong place, wrong time - Parnell
Wayne Parnell on Monday said he and Indian bowler Rahul Shama were at the wrong place at the wrong time.
CAPE TOWN - South African cricketer Wayne Parnell on Monday said he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
He and Indian bowler Rahul Shama were attending a party when police conducted a drug raid at an Indian hotel this weekend.
The Proteas bowler is in the country for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Parnell said they were taken to a hospital where they were tested for drugs.
"We cooperated with the authorities. We weren't aware of any drugs as previously speculated."
The 22-year-old plays for the Pune Warriors.
Around 100 people were detained in Sunday's Mumbai raid.
The players' detention is the latest in a string of controversies to hit the IPL, which concludes on May 27.
The competition has been rocked by allegations of spot-fixing.
