Post Office strike continues
There is still no end in sight for the ongoing Post Office workers strike.
JOHANNESBURG - There is still no end in sight for the ongoing Post Office workers strike, but the Communications Workers Union says it is hopeful the matter will be resolved soon.
The union held a meeting with Post Office management on Friday.
Thousands of contract employees are demanding full time employment; some have been casually employed for over 10 years.
Mail turnover times are about two weeks behind.
The union's Clyde Mervin says, "Both parties want to resolve the matter. Proposals have been made from both parties. We will meet again on Wednesday night."
The delivery of municipal accounts has been affected by the strike.
The City of Johannesburg has apologised to those affected by the strike.
