JOHANNESBURG - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens on Thursday said winning the league title with the club will be a fairytale end to the season for him and the club.

Neeskens joined the Pretoria side at the beginning of the current season and hopes to end their trophy drought that has lasted for almost a decade.

Sundowns are in the ABSA Premiership league title race with four other sides.

They are third on the table, three points behind log leaders Orlando Pirates with only two league rounds left.

Neeskens said his side was close to league glory, but the players needed to win their remaining games.

"I think winning the league requires team work. It's not about the coach; everyone wants to lift the cup."

Neeskens said should the club lose the title race it will be devastating after leading the log for an extended period during the season.
